Bio

I started playing piano at a young age. My piano teachers taught me to read music and about basic scales. I learned how to play written music, but not how to write my own. Playing piano became somewhat boring as I grew older since I did not enjoy most of the music that I was instructed to play.

In my teenage years my friends persuaded me to join our youth group band. I began playing keyboard with them. I learned how to play chords and create my own music by improvising. It was usually fun and I learned a lot.

I went to college to study engineering and took my guitar with me. I had little access to a piano during college and stopped playing. I still played guitar, but realized that I enjoy playing piano more than guitar. When I did have a chance to play a piano I would often play for hours. It’s hard to stop sometimes. That is when I began to really enjoy playing piano and when I realized that I could compose my own music.

After college I got a job programming, which is what I currently do. I was able to buy some recording equipment and I like to make up songs in my spare time. I often get tired of hearing the same types of songs and sounds, so I try to make up things that are a little different. I currently play piano at the church I attend and have aspirations to one day write my own album.

I would like to explore ways of combining my interest in art with my abilities to play music. The name iZek used to be a creative way to spell my name, but it has now morphed into something more. I created the iZ3k logo in a program called Blender and I am going to use it to represent my music.
